Texas Hold Em Tournament Rules

Poker is one of the most famous games which are being played in regular casinos and on the net. And the Texas Hold Em Tournament is a variation of the regular poker and is the hottest tournament around the world. The rules of the game vary slightly in each room so it would be a good idea to brush up the basic rules so that you may have the right information to play the game.

Entrance fee
The entrance fee should be paid before the game begins and generally the house takes 5-10% of the fee. For example you will have to pay 200$+20$ where the 200$ goes for the game and 20$ goes to the house for providing you dealer and a table.

Assignment of seat
You will be provided a card in which your seat number and table number will be written down. It is randomly assigned and cannot be changed until a tournament manager asks you to do so.

Stacks
The amount of stack that you had asked for will be placed at your seat. These chips cannot be cashed out until the tournament gets over and it is always a good idea to double check the stack to make sure that the right amount is present.

Blind levels
This game totally differs from the usual game as the blind level increases with each round. Hence it is advisable to stay updated as to what is happening and prepare yourself beforehand.

Deal
The button is randomly determined and the two players left to the button are known as the small blind and big blind. With each hand the button moves to the left.

Breaking of tables
As the tournament moves forward most of the people will be eliminated and to accommodate the lesser number of people the tournament manager will assign a different table with respect to the number of members present.

Calling the clock
A player can force the other player to execute a certain action within a stipulated amount of time (say for 90 seconds) by requesting the pit boss. If the other player refuses or is unable to execute the action within the specified time then his cards will be folded.

Multiple Busts
If two players end up at the same hand then the player with higher stack gets the higher position.

Showing cards
If you show your card to other players intentionally, it is considered as illegal and you might be eliminated from the tournament if caught red handed.

Playing inappropriately
It is inappropriate to play by swearing, cursing or throwing the cards and this may result into a penalty or elimination from the game.

Heads up
When only two players are left on the table, then the small blind acts as the button and he is supposed to play first but plays last on ensuing streets.

And finally it is up to you to know the basic rules while playing a poker game. If you do not properly educate yourself then it is guaranteed that you may loose rather than earn in the Texas Hold Em tournament.
